Critical minerals have emerged as an increasingly important component of global energy security, economic competitiveness, and international relations. Growing demand for minerals used across energy technologies, advanced manufacturing, defense, and other strategic industries has brought renewed attention to the concentration of mineral production and processing, the economics of developing new supply, and the resilience of global supply chains.
NCAC-USAEE's upcoming panel will bring together experts from industry, policy, and research to examine these challenges from an energy-economics perspective while incorporating the geopolitical and security considerations increasingly shaping critical-mineral markets. Rather than prescribing a narrowly defined topic in advance, the final discussion will be shaped around the expertise of the participating panelists, allowing for an interdisciplinary conversation across markets, industry, policy, and geopolitics.
