About the Presenter:
Keith Martin has served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and as a board member for Uniper, and as CEO of Uniper Global Commodities (a Uniper subsidiary) since March 2016. In his CCO role, Martin oversees all of Uniper’s global commercial activity, including the following portfolios: coal, LNG and freight, power and gas, sales, procurement, and market analytics.
Uniper is an international energy company active in more than 40 countries that owns and manages power plants throughout Europe and Russia. The company also engages in commodity trading in natural gas, liquefied natural gas, coal, emission certificates, and freight. Uniper employs roughly 12,000 people, and boasted €78 billion in sales in 2018. It is active in the export of US coal and LNG and is planning an LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at its site in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
Prior to his work at Uniper, Martin worked from 2013-2016 as Vice President, LNG Gas & Power at PetroChina International Company, where he developed the company’s global LNG and carbon business, and expanded its marketing and trading presence in gas, power, and carbon throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. From 2005-2013, Martin worked at Gazprom Marketing & Trading as both Commercial Director and Executive Director, Global Gas, Power & Downstream. Martin began his career at Shell, where he worked from 1990-2005 in a variety of downstream roles, including developing and managing the company’s European gas and power marketing and trading business.
Martin received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Liverpool in 1990.
